Nurse arrested for refusing to draw blood from unconscious man

Footage taken on July 26th shows nurse Alex Wubbels who works at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City arguing with Detective Jeff Payne over his right to draw blood from a patient recently in a car crash.

The nurse refuses to draw blood from the patient stating that he is not under arrest and that the police do not have a warrant.

The response from Detective Payne was “I either go away with blood in vials or body in tow,”.  One of the nurse’s supervisors is then heard to be saying “Sir, you’re making a huge mistake because you’re threatening a nurse,”.

Payne then states “We’re done here,” and leads the nurse outside of the building as she is heard to be screaming “Help! Help! Somebody help me! Stop! I did nothing wrong. This is crazy!”.

Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown has confirmed that an investigation is underway, responding with “I am sad at the rift this has caused between law-enforcement and the nurses we work so closely with. I want to be clear, we take this very seriously,”.
